As a Proposal Engineer, you will play a vital role in the sales team by ensuring the smooth operation of sales processes and providing essential support to sales representatives and account managers. This position involves a combination of administrative tasks, customer interaction, and strategic support to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the global sales team.
This is a key technical role within the Valmet Analyzer Products and Integration Business Unit, the global headquarters of the Maxum II Gas Chromatograph and Systems Integration Solutions business in Houston, TX. This is a technology focused role with the primary responsibility for supporting the sales team in developing the most cost-competitive and technically sound product and solutions proposal for our customers in new and existing accounts. Candidates should be able to demonstrate technical expertise in the field of process analytics and systems integration with a focus on the electrical systems design and construction.

Key Responsibilities
- Respond to inquiries from the organization's sales force or customers about the technical aspects of the organization's products and services.
- Receive and review Requests for Quotations (RFQ's) for the organization's products and services.
- Prepare cost calculations and provide a cost-effective solution for each customer's specific need utilizing products and solutions from our portfolio.
- Prepare technical and commercial quotations to customers to meet their technical requirements and specific needs.
- Oversee the entire RFQ process/lifecycle, including RFQ issuance, proposal preparation and submission, technical clarifications and responses, order entry support, and seamless handover to the Operations team.
Additional responsibilities include the following:
- Lead the development and enhancement of IEC/ATEX based engineering modules for use in the development of technical proposals for Global Projects.
- Prioritize assigned Global RFQ's and coordinate actions as needed to fully define and accurately interpret scope requirements.
- Identify and configure the best technical solution to meet the customer needs.
- Collaboratively review solution requirements with internal and external resources locally and globally as needed to ensure consistent application of Siemens technology.
Position Requirements:
- BS/BA in electrical or mechanical engineering discipline preferred.
- Candidate should have experience in and be familiar with Hazloc standards IECEx, the ATEX Directive and ideally, the North American division standards (NEC).
- Typically, 10-15 years of successful experience in related field and successful demonstration of KEY responsibilities and knowledge as presented above.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience as an advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.
- Basic understanding of process instrumentation, process measurement principles (thermal conductivity, flame ionization, photoionization, IR, etc) and systems integration construction principles and methods.
Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and strong work performance:
- Able to read and interpret technical documentation (engineering drawings, schematics, test data) and create technical reports
- Willingness and ability to travel.
