We're hiring a Senior Protective Relay & Control Specialist to lead field work for testing, commissioning, and maintaining complex protective relay systems across substation environments. You'll play a critical role in system upgrades, reliability improvements, and mentoring field teams.

We're hiring a Senior Protective Relay & Control Specialist to lead field work for testing, commissioning, and maintaining complex protective relay systems across substation environments. You'll play a critical role in system upgrades, reliability improvements, and mentoring field teams.
What You'll Do:
- Commission, test, maintain, and repair protective relays, metering, and remote-control systems
- Work on electro-mechanical, numerical, and microprocessor-based relays
- Test overcurrent/voltage, directional, distance, impedance, reverse power, and multifunction relays
- Execute function testing on substation control circuits, breakers, transformers, and relay panels
- Support SCADA, DFR, RTU, IEDs, and distribution automation systems
- Travel for multi-day field assignments, including nights, weekends, and some holidays
- Create test reports, maintain documentation, and contribute to procedure development
- Communicate technical details clearly with customers and internal teams
- Mentor junior technicians and contribute to training initiatives
Experience You'll Need:
- Extensive hands-on experience with power system protection, controls, and substation equipment
- Strong technical expertise in relay testing, SCADA systems, and substation commissioning
- Proven background via trade school + 10 years of experience, military training + OTJ, or a 2-4 year engineering tech degree with power systems focus
- Familiarity with IEEE, NETA, NEMA, NEC standards
- AVO, NETA, NICET certifications and CDL are a plus
- Strong communication, documentation, and troubleshooting skills
