We are seeking Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Psychiatrists to provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient psychiatric services to Veterans at the Atlanta VA Healthcare System and affiliated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). Physicians will join an interdisciplinary Behavioral Health team delivering state-of-the-art care in accordance with nationally recognized standards.

- Oakwood VA Clinic (Flowery Branch, GA)
- Pickens VA Clinic (Jasper, GA)
- Covington, Pike, West Cobb, South Fulton, Fort McPherson, and other CBOCs
Position Type: Full-Time, Contract (2080 hours/year)
Work Schedule:
- Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM (excluding federal holidays)
- Minimum 6-6.5 bookable patient hours per day
- Participation in emergency call schedules may be required
Job Summary:
We are seeking Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Psychiatrists to provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient psychiatric services to Veterans at the Atlanta VA Healthcare System and affiliated Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs). Physicians will join an interdisciplinary Behavioral Health team delivering state-of-the-art care in accordance with nationally recognized standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and psychotherapy.
- Provide treatment for a wide spectrum of conditions, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and SUD.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide telehealth and telephone consultation as needed.
- Review and document patient encounters using VA's electronic health record (CPRS/VistA).
- Supervise mid-level providers (NPs/PAs) and collaborate with clinical staff.
- Provide timely documentation and participate in peer review, committee meetings, and mandatory training.
- Adhere to VA clinical policies, patient safety, and infection control procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Medical License: Unrestricted license to practice medicine in any U.S. state or territory.
- Board Certification: Board Certified or Eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
- Certifications: Active BLS and ACLS (or equivalent).
- Education: Graduate of an ACGME-accredited medical school and psychiatric residency program.
- Language: Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Immunizations & Screening: TB test, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Influenza, Hepatitis B (as required by CDC).
- Background & Credentialing: Must pass credentialing/privileging through VETPRO and National Practitioner Data Bank.
- Other: Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work per federal contract guidelines.
Desired Qualifications
- Prior VA experience or military healthcare background.
- DEA registration and NPI with active taxonomy.
- Experience with telepsychiatry and/or integrated behavioral health.
