Job Title: Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA)
Job Specialty: Physical Therapy
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 10-hour shifts, 4 days a week, variable days
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum 2 years preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply
License: Current PT license required, ability to obtain an NPI number
Certifications: BLS, CPR Certification
Must-Have: Graduate of an approved Physical Therapist Assistant curriculum, working knowledge of Medicare and other payer sources, full knowledge of patient rights, ability to communicate effectively in English
Job Description:
- Implement and execute established patient treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed therapist.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, referring physicians, and other team members.
- Provide timely documentation in compliance with hospital and departmental requirements.
- Develop and enhance clinical and professional skills through continuing education and professional associations.
- Support and participate in department operations and development.
- Report any changes in patient status or needs to the supervising therapist promptly.
- Prepare and submit patient charges accurately for appropriate billing.
- Conduct patient screens upon admission by identifying appropriate interventions for treatment.
- Use professional judgment to ensure the safety of oneself, patients, and others at all times.
- Achieve quality patient care through interdisciplinary cooperation, teamwork, and effective communication.
- Attend required meetings as designated by the Director of Rehab or Manager.
- Communicate effectively with therapists concerning the patient's response to the treatment plan.
- Attend in-services, training sessions, or other educational presentations.
- Coordinate treatment goals with other team members.
- Maintain awareness of patient and community needs, conditions, and programs.
- Uphold the vision and mission statement of the organization.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner with courtesy and respect for others.
- Provide at least one in-service to the community or peers per year.
- Participate in one community event per year, as availability allows.
- Act as a clinical preceptor for the Physical Therapist Assistant student program.
- Maintain a professional license.
- Physical requirements include the ability to move intermittently throughout the workday, lift and carry up to 20 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally, lift over 100 lbs with assistance, sit and walk for extended periods, and perform movements like bending, squatting, pushing, stooping, and pulling as needed.
