Description
This position will manage and coordinate the operations of the Emergency Communication Center (911) for the County and two towns to ensure that citizens' requests for public safety assistance inquiries are processed promptly, efficiently, courteously, and professionally. Additionally, this position will oversee training and perform related administrative duties. This position is considered essential personnel and is subject to recall during major and/or emergency situations.
Examples of Duties
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Requires the use of fingers, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

Examples of Duties
- Manages the receipt of calls and dispatching of emergency services for police, fire, and emergency medical services.
- Manages and directs the operations of the 9-1-1 center including recommending selection, training, performance management, assigning and evaluating tasks, counseling, and discipline.
- Recommends budget needs for operations.
- Oversees scheduling, assignment selection, and overtime assignments.
- Ensures policies, procedures, and expectations are enforced consistently across all operational shifts.
- Develops and implements training programs.
- Prepares and maintains monthly and yearly reports
- Observes all approved safety and health policies and procedures pertaining to an employee's work activities and performs all work tasks in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with County policy.
- Performs other assigned duties.

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of related work experience to include experience in communications or public safety management.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Driver's License valid in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
