Responsibilities:
- Propose improvements to the current purchasing system that will improve vendor relationships and lower the cost of doing business.
- Collaborate with inventory control and sales to develop metrics for gauging inventory level needs and then maintaining those levels
throughout the year. - Take the lead in creating profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow moving stock to help offset losses.
- Manage the company's day to day purchasing activities and ensure that all purchasing agents are meeting their personal performance standards using the Performance Development Review form.
- Responsible for training buyers and sales on best practices using the inventory control system and setting parameters to accomplish the goal.
- Evaluate suppliers, maintain contracts, negotiate prices, review product quality and delivery performance.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key vendors.
- Identify and source new suppliers and vendors.
- Manage risk relating to quality, cost, delivery and supply of purchases.
- Manage and develop purchasing team
- Communicate with regional presidents on goals, vendors, and performance.
Requirements:
- College Degree preferred
- 3+ years of electrical product knowledge and previous management experience
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Strong process orientation and systems-thinking capability
- Proven attentiveness to detail coupled with problem analysis and resolution skills
- Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all organizational members
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills, including an ability to plan and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to travel to other office locations (10% - 15% travel)
