Strategic Procurement Manager

The Strategic Procurement Manager will ensure the company achieves secure and sustainable supply for all purchased raw materials under their responsibility and develop and roll out the strategies for their categories. This role will be focused on supplier identification and selection for strategic pharma & personal care projects and procurement activities for new growing site in Lamar PA. Significant emphasis will be on quality, cost, and sustainable supply. This position will be based at the Princeton, NJ headquarters location.
Key Duties Include:
Support new projects for Lamar PA site by working with Project leads to identify raw material and packaging needs and identify best commercial sources.
Coordinate & collaborate with Quality, R&T and Process Development to qualify and establish sourcing.
In spirit of "early involvement" of Procurement, develop network of collaborative relationships within Croda to help guide sourcing options early.
Develop and implement creative procurement strategies for key raw materials including packaging, as required through a detailed understanding of the markets, and the business needs to provide sustainable, high quality and competitive sourcing for Croda whilst maintaining security of supply and minimizing working capital.Special emphasis will be placed on reducing risk of supply, quality and improving lead times and flexibility.
Implement and support Croda's sustainability goals as committed to in Croda's Sustainability report for sustainable sourcing, including our roadmap to lowering carbon emissions. Work closely with site-based procurement teams to ensure raw material needs are met and strategies are in alignment.
Provide an annual budget forecast and have a major input into the overall budget process by providing forecasts and market intelligence on future developments and opportunities for responsible categories.
Identify potential threats and opportunities for existing raw materials and develop new and alternative sources of supply as well as new methods of sourcing to provide commercial advantage and/or achieve security of supply. For key materials this will involve obtaining approval for several suppliers to allow dual or multiple sourcing as dictated by the procurement strategy.
Ensure sales and marketing are fully aware of market prices and trends for raw materials and the fundamentals behind these markets so they can manage their businesses and projects effectively.
Responsible for the negotiation of contracts for key strategic raw materials which represent a significant value to the company. Also lead or participate in cross company and global sourcing projects as agreed with the Regional Director to maximize synergies across the group.
Provide support to the Regional Director and other senior managers to achieve the targets of the site(s).
Participate in and contribute to monthly management meetings and to provide monthly and quarterly reporting on purchasing issues, opportunities, and risks.

Bachelor's degree. Science or engineering background preferred.
5+ years procurement experience. Pharma industry preferred.
Knowledge of commercial law, competition law.
Proven contract negotiation experience.
Understanding of markets for key materials.
SAP experience preferred.
Must have oral & written proficiency in the English language.
Ability to communicate, relate and influence a wide range of audiences.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
