Position Summary:

The RD&E Director of Industrial Purolite is responsible for directing the Global RD&E organization and product portfolio the second largest acquisition in Ecolab history. This person will interact closely with divisional marketing, sales, customers and industry experts to proactively identify and successfully execute on innovative, game changing product concepts while maintaining current product lines. The Director will provide leadership on technology advancements, new product and service opportunities, and improvements in operational and organizational productivity. Additionally, they will ensure alignment of team objectives to strategic plans and effectively leverage Ecolab Global RD&E resources to improve overall return on RD&E investment. This position reports to VP of Commercial Operations for Purolite.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop long term differential technology strategy and product roadmaps that incorporate customer requirements and divisional growth objective.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of business financials and makes sound decisions to drive product profitability.
  • Leads Innovation Portfolio to ensure Innovation Pipelines for the Purolite industrial business meet strategic plan, annual business growth targets, and new products metrics.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively provide leadership and direction.
  • Develop and build out industrial Purolite RD&E team including direct reports and mentor key employees. Build organizational talent to correlate with overall strategy and annual objectives.
  • Manage resource allocations to support the current business and new product projects.
  • Ensures the development and utility of Intellectual Property, through patent filings, trade secrets, and the support of Technical Notebooks and Reports.
  • Provides ongoing support for operations, quality improvement, cost reduction, raw materials and regulatory changes.
  • Demonstrates cross functional and global thinking in planning and prioritizing projects and initiatives.
  • Leads all aspects of the phase gate, design control, and New Production Introduction processes including ensuring team members understand and utilize phase gate tools.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Chemistry or Engineering or a related technical discipline and more than 10 years of related experience.
  • 5+ years of Synthetic Organic Chemistry experience.
  • 5+ years of significant experience in product development.
  • 3+ years experience leading high performing teams in product development.
  • 3+ years experience management experience; proven track record of developing people and organizational design.
  • 5+ years of significant experience in industrial product development.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in chemistry or chemical engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong communication, leadership presence, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with key business partners and to represent Ecolab to external audiences at key industry events.
  • Proven track record of innovation, technology development, New Product / Service launches and leveraging of External Technology in industrial businesses.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively develop an inclusive environment and make sound business decisions.
