SUMMARY

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance systems and processes in our manufacturing facility. This role ensures that our products meet required quality standards and regulatory compliance. The Quality Assurance Manager will lead a team of QA professionals and collaborate with other departments to drive continuous improvement in product quality.

Responsible for overall Quality Management Systems and Customer related Quality. Maintains, develops, and coordinates company's ISO 90001 quality systems and certifications. Responsible for overall Quality Key Performance Indicators, in tandem with the Quality Control Manager. Manage compliance at a company level as it relates to customer required specifications.

Supervisory Responsibilities - Yes.

  • Hires, trains, and supervises QA personnel assigned as direct reports on approved QA procedures.
  • Coaches employees for improved performance; issues disciplinary, corrective action as warranted; and Conducts performance reviews on a timely basis.
  • Helps to develop and maintain QA, Key Performance Measures, and Indices.


  • Duties

  • Manage Quality Management Systems.
  • Manage Customer related Quality.
  • Manage Key Performance Indicators.
  • Create, maintain, and ensure the administration of companywide Quality Management Systems, ISO 9001 compliance and introduce, provide guidance, and maintain new regulatory revisions and certifications.
  • Oversee and provide direction for Internal Auditing activities in compliance with international, regulatory and customer expectations.
  • Assess, manage, and monitor any Risks associated with the QMS.
  • Responsible for Customer facing Quality issues and Customer related Quality Initiatives.
  • Work with customers on initiatives and reported issues while internally managing related corrective actions and continual improvement activities to meet or exceed customer expectations, metrics, and goals.
  • Monitor overall metrics and drive associated corrective actions and continual improvement activities manage activities to meet or exceed company and corporate metrics and goals.
  • Oversee all aspects of Compliance at a company level as it relates to customer required international programs.
  • Responsible for product compliance program and for working with Engineering and R&D on customer expectations for Product Compliance.
  • Prepare, input, and maintain specific spreadsheet data using computers / software (e g, M/S Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
  • Conduct meetings; and educate others desired changes, improvements.

    90% inside, climate / noise-controlled office/lab, and 10% machine shop environment; lifting to 25 lbs. on occasion. Eye, hearing, and Cleanroom protection may be required.

    Tasks require walking, sitting, bending, reaching, mobility, frequent lifting and pushing/pulling. Work requires computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and data-entry), attention to detail and accuracy. Communication skills including listening and speaking are required for interaction with other employees, vendors, and customers. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to balance multiple tasks and any stress associated with the duties and responsibilities of this position are essential requirements in the performance of this job.

    Secondary duties with added requirements may be assigned from time to time.

    General Qualifications

  • Able to work a schedule that may require overnight travel involving weekends.
  • Must have strong knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems development, implementation, and continual improvement.
  • Must be familiar with state-of-the-art manufacturing, documentation methodologies as they pertain to stainless steel, high-vacuum chambers, and components.
  • Must have strong organizational and time-management skills in order to prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with coworkers, customers, and other departmental personnel in a professional and positive manner.
  • Technical writing skills are required to effectively communicate with customers and coworkers, and to occasionally write or amend Standard Operating Procedures. Familiar with engineering documentation and Engineering Change processes and procedures.
  • Requires strong ability to work with others in the department to share specific knowledge of products, processes, and/or procedures in order to initiate and support continual improvement activities.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.


  • Education and/or Experience

    Any combination of education and/or training, equivalent to graduation from an accredited college/university with a BS degree in Engineering, Statistics, or other Quality related program that would provide knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the job.

    Minimum of 48-months general QA leadership experience in a manufacturing, environment, with at least 24-months specific experience in precision metals fabrication and machining. Receives little direction or supervision on assignments. Exercises high-level of discretionary judgment on a regular basis.
