Responsibilities of the Quality Assurance Manager:
- Act as the primary SQF practitioner, overseeing audit preparation and execution.
- Lead the QC lab, including the training, coaching, and scheduling of lab employees.
- Ensure the organization of all regulatory, customer, and third-party inspections.
- Manage laboratory supplies, ingredients, and documentation.
- Review and approve daily production records and QC documentation.
- Evaluate and authorize updates, modifications, or changes to batch sheet procedures.
- Support R&D with ingredient documentation for claims purposes.
- Provide directives and instructions to production employees on sanitation, GMPs, food safety, and quality control.
- Perform QA checks throughout the warehouse and processing areas to ensure compliance with SOPs and GMPs.
- Oversee sanitation procedures and methods.
- Create technical reports to support production and other departments as needed.
- Conduct routine and non-routine laboratory testing to support production activities.
- Assist in developing and implementing finished product specifications.
- Play a major role in writing and implementing food safety, security, HACCP, environmental, and quality programs and policies.
- Ensure compliance with all group systems, guidelines, and policies of private label and co-packers.
- Maintain knowledge of food safety, HACCP, current industry issues, and innovative technology regarding food and packaging products.
- Stay updated on federal, state, and local regulations governing food products, including FSMA.
- Actively participate in FSQA/compliance-based professional groups and associations.
Qualifications of the Quality Assurance Manager:
- Minimum 5-10+ years of experience in quality, food safety, and environmental systems management.
- SQF Practitioner certification.
- PCQI Certified.
- Experience as a lead and internal auditor, with training in food safety and HACCP.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships at all levels within the organization and with suppliers.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree in a science-related field. Master's degree preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Compensation for the Quality Assurance Manager:
- Salary Range: $90,000-$110,000 depending on years of experience, 20 % bonus
