Job Description

We are seeking for a highly skilled Quality Engineer with experience in the Nuclear/Aerospace industry to ensure compliance with AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP and NQA-1 requirements while supporting product and process quality engineering initiatives. The candidate will be a key member maintaining quality systems, and assist in driving continuous improvement, and ensuring regulatory compliance across our Nuclear/Aerospace manufacturing processes.

This position will require regular communication with parties both internal and externally to communicate quality results and identify process and systems improvements. The successful candidate for this assignment must be able to work independently and on project teams in a fast-paced environment using a variety of technologies, reporting skills, communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform Internal and External Audit activities as they pertain to NQA-1, AS9100, AS13100, Nadcap, ISO 17025, ISO 14001, our Supply base and process Audits.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the NQA-1, AS9100, AS13100 AND ISO 9001
  • Assists in process certification and product qualification.
  • Participate in FMEA and other risk assessments and mitigation activities.
  • Assist in establishing, initiating and ensuring compliance of Frozen processes.
  • Effective communication and people skills to maintain a working relationship with Quality, Engineering, Sales, Management and customer base.
  • Dependability, integrity, cooperation and taking the initiative for work responsibilities and challenges are critical
  • Assist the Quality Control Engineer with the analysis and inspection of product, as required.
  • Assist Quality Assurance in performing document reviews of customer requirements, specifications, and company quality assurance standards.
  • Oversee all compliance-related activities to maintain regulatory certifications.
  • Responsible for review of Nuclear purchase orders and specifications to ensure capability and compliance.
  • Drive Continuous improvement efforts to streamline Nuclear/Aerospace processes.
  • Work closely with internal teams (engineering, procurement, production, sales) to address quality-related concerns and resolve issues quickly.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all quality-related concerns with Nuclear customers and supply base.
  • Occasional overnight travel to customers and suppliers.


Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in technical discipline or operational management or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years broad experience within quality assurance, or quality engineering environment within the metal processing industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to use reason and judgment in the planning and execution of responsibilities.
  • Experience working within an NQA-1 based program.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Experience leading and supporting audit and surveillance efforts to identify and assess quality issues, deficiencies and potential non-compliances.
  • Working knowledge of product development methodologies such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Change Management, and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and interface with customers and suppliers.
  • Experience working in a Quality System certified to ISO9001, AS9100, or Nadcap a plus.
  • Experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment, aerospace industry preferred.
  • Support material source inspections and customer audits.
  • Maintaining quality documents and records.
  • Aerospace Quality Standards AS9100/LCS/NADCAP.
  • Experience with GE, Rolls Royce and/or Pratt & Whitney Aviation desirable.
  • Qualified NQA-1, AS9100 Internal/Lead Auditor is highly desirable.
  • A background in Metallurgy is highly desirable.
