Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all day to day functions of the department and department personnel. Achieve and maintain reproducible/reliable measurement techniques and test methods. Technical problem solving with manufacturing to drive root cause analysis and process repeatability/reliability. Manage a team of quality engineers and quality improvement activities.
Major Challenges:
Need to close gap between first of a kind prototype manufacturing and high volume/high repeatability manufacturing Must work together with a cross-functional team with conflicting priorities to drive project results. Must Understand the design intent, failure modes, requirements and specifications of the product and tying those to the manufacturing processes, process controls, and quality inspections. Industry specific design and performance standards are complex and vary widely Inadequate or outdated information on existing blueprints, documentation, or processes.
Expected Performance Outcomes:
25% scrap reduction in first six months; 50% scrap reduction in first year on assigned product 95% on-time delivery from suppliers to commit date 25% reduction in number of MRB's in first six months; 50% reduction in MRB's in first year.
Required Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering Materials engineering or equivalent. Minimum 10 years' overall experience. 3-5 years of supervisory and inspection experience as a component of overall experience. Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control, process capability and Gage R&R. Knowledge of quality standards including ISO9001; SEMI International; AS9100 Diverse knowledge of inspection & control methods, techniques & documentation. Experience with SPC, PFMEA, Root Cause Analysis, Capabilities Studies, Leading Corrective Action and Preventative Action.
Technical Knowledge/Skills:
ASQ Certification as a Quality Manager (CQM) or Quality Engineer (CQE) strongly preferred. Strong background in the Aerospace, Medial or Semiconductor industry. Certifications or evidence of formal technical training in quality standards, measurement equipment, data analytics Six Sigma Black Belt or ASQ Certification
