Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.
In addition to the high-quality heart program at Sentara Heart Hospital, our facility is home to Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance and several other dedicated facilities and specialized services. As a recognized accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center, and Magnet hospital for nursing excellence, our hospital specializes in heart and vascular, neurosciences, neurosurgery, urology, oncology, spine care, advanced imaging, behavioral health, maternity, and women's health, including a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit.

Overview:
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Full-Time Quality Improvement Coordinator.
In this role you will be:
- Assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality improvement projects and initiatives aimed at improving patient care, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Collecting, analyzing, and reporting on quality data, identifying trends and areas for improvement in patient outcomes, satisfaction, and safety.
- Collaborating with clinical and operational teams to implement evidence-based practices and process improvements that align with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
- Providing education and training to staff on quality improvement tools, methodologies, and patient safety protocols.
- Tracking/Trending medical staff performance.
- Occurrence/Complaint investigation.
Education
- BSN
Certification/Licensure
- Virginia or Multi-State Registered Nurse License in good standing
Experience
- 2 years of acute care
- QI related activities preferred (medical record review, accreditation, PI activities)
- Experience in a clinical area of an acute care facility with demonstrated leadership, teaching and QI/PI facilitation skills preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of regulatory and accreditation agency standards preferred (DNV or JCAHO)
- Experience with data analysis, Excel
- Knowledge around publicly reported quality data (CMS 5-star, QHIP, Leapfrog)
- Must be able to link the clinical effectiveness and clinical informatics arenas
- May require local travel and use of personal automobile.
