Job Summary:
The Senior Manager of Quality ensures that quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and customer specifications. This role is responsible for managing the organizations quality assurance policies and controlling new product development processes by establishing performance standards and audit controls.

Job Summary:
The Senior Manager of Quality ensures that quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and customer specifications. This role is responsible for managing the organizations quality assurance policies and controlling new product development processes by establishing performance standards and audit controls.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Creates product inspection and disposition standards by studying manufacturing methods throughout the supply chain; planning testing methods and procedures
- Ensures the ongoing implementation, adherence, and continual improvement of Food Safety Quality Management Systems, including BRC, GMP, HACCP, as well as regulatory (CFIA, Health Canada, FDA) and elected standards (organic, Gluten Free, Kosher, non-GMO)
- Establishes the maintenance of appropriate documentation and records pertinent to quality and regulatory (BRC) compliance
- Prepares product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Ensures reports concerning quality and regulatory inspections are communicated to the appropriate management personnel on a regular basis, highlighting challenges and their resolution
- Ensures regular audits of plant facilities, suppliers, co-packers and outside warehouses to establish compliance with regulatory requirements and/or to enact the necessary corrective measures as required
- Develops and manages the Quality and Lab Department organizational structure in line with the Company's standard for food quality
- Ensures that the resources of the Quality Department are available to provide the support and service to maintain and improve quality, control costs and improve productivity. Maintains quality team member's job results by coaching, counseling, and directing team members
- Provide expert advice on food quality, production and product labelling
- Ability to apply high level root-cause and problem-solving skills at all levels and the ability to set priorities and provide appropriate structure to solve/issues
- Achieves financial objectives by preparing and managing the quality budget which includes sourcing and securing available grants and funding
- Provide ongoing development, coaching and performance management for all team members including regular annual performance review processes

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or another related/technical field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of QA / QC experience in a food and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a Consumer Packaged Goods environment
- Demonstrated expertise with GMP, HACCP, and BRC principles
- 3 to 5 years of direct people management, capability development and change leadership
- Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building and leadership abilities
- Superior report writing, communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Some travel may be required
- Sit/stand for long periods of time
- Manual dexterity required to use computer and peripherals
