POSITION: Quality Manager

LOCATION: Cedar Hill, TX

REPORTS TO: General Manager

SUMMARY

Responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and implementing quality assurance standards and systems for the facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and administer quality management systems for the facility.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate company-wide quality training programs for all plant personnel.
  • Lead development of process improvement projects as related to plant waste reduction.
  • Develop and provide relevant and up to date statistical data and analysis to managers and employees
  • Coordinate company communications between all company facilities regarding quality related issues.
  • Resolve quality problems as needed with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and company personnel.
  • Review quality assurance standards, existing policies & procedures to evaluate effectiveness of company quality programs.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading employees to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance.
  • Administer facility waste program and lead all continuous improvement efforts regarding waste
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in related field (TQM, SPC, ISO 9000)
  • Computer literate


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry
  • Related college degree, appropriate technical courses, or Associate's (A.A.) degree
  • Engineering background
  • Corrugated experience preferred


LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy
  • Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Should have the ability to comprehend and identify waste streams in the plant's processes.
  • Should be able to recognize and prioritize focus areas for waste reduction.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Employee is regularly required to walk, talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to gather information and perform root cause analysis and problem solving.
  • Ability to create reports for review by upper management.
  • Ability to lead teams in waste reduction efforts.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.


WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
