Summary/Objective

The Quality Manager is ultimately responsible for ensuring Core Molding is meeting and exceeding the quality expectations of our customers. They supervise a team of quality engineers who support our key customers on quality and program management. They work closely with their team of quality engineers and plant operations leaders from production release to drive quality activities, reliability validation, and yield enhancements. Using quality systems, root cause analysis, and advanced problem-solving skills, they are responsible for ensuring that Core products are produced to customers' expectations.

Essential Functions

  • Create standards in accordance with industry requirements and customer expectations
  • Identify quality control processes to ensure criteria are met
  • Execute tests to check final product adherence to company and customer standards
  • Record findings and relay information to production team
  • Provide ideas to increase productivity and performance of production while maintaining accuracy in quality
  • Make crucial decisions in favor of cost-efficiency without compromising on quality
  • Oversee production to ensure conformity and consistency in the final product processing
  • Lead efforts in ISO and IATF audits for plant operation
  • Provide training and coaching on auditing internal practices
  • Oversee and provide direction for completion of layered process audits
  • Expertise in quality systems and tools to include Shainin, 6 Sigma, etc.
  • Extensive problem-solving and root cause analysis skills (5 Whys, 8Ds, A3s, etc.)
  • Expertise in program management and automotive program launch and APQP process, FMEA and Control Plans
  • Highly technical with the ability to understand customer specifications, blueprints, and GD&T
  • Deep understanding of the molding of composite materials
  • Demonstrate expertise in Lean Manufacturing systems
  • Developing and implementing Poke Yoke systems
  • Advanced mechanical aptitude with an understanding of manufacturing techniques and practices
  • Ability to lead high performing work teams
  • Advanced knowledge of IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 quality systems
  • Other functions as assigned by Plant Director

Supervisory Responsibility

This position manages all employees of the Quality department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees in that department.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional manufacturing office and shop floor environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. This position regularly requires extended hours and/or weekend work.

Travel

Up to 10% required.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or in a field related to quality control
  • 4-6 years QA Mgr. Experience or 10+ years QA experience
  • Knowledge and usage of data analysis tools (e.g. pareto charts)
  • Certification with ASQ and Six Sigma methodology
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activity streams
  • Must have strong work commitment and drive to get the job done accurately and timely
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels throughout the organization
  • Hands on approach to leadership
  • High energy, assertive, and highly developed sense of urgency and action orientation
  • Self-starter, independent but able to function in a team environment
  • Knowledge of CAD, Solid works a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or similar project management tool
  • In-depth knowledge of market trends and conditions


Preferred Education, Qualifications, and Experience
  • MBA in a field related to quality control
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt training
  • Kaizen experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Plastics background (SMC)
