Your Role and Responsibilities

We are looking for experienced, motivated engineers to work with the IBM Quantum deployment and development team. Projects may include characterization of quantum systems, bringing-up and support of complex quantum systems, managing lab and infrastructure for IBM's quantum data center, bringup and testing of FPGA based control electronics. You will have the ability to work in a lab environment with a range of microwave electronics and test equipment. You will work on testing, monitoring and study of quantum devices, apparatus, and controls to be used in multi-qubit architectures with high fidelity. You will be working with the world's best quantum system experts in what will be the defining technology of this generation!

Your role and responsibilities

As a Quantum Hardware Technician you will be responsible for ensuring Quantum Systems deployment and availability. Specifically the assembly, function and support of the Quantum System control electronics. Which entails verifying power and cooling requirements for the control electronics. Test and verification of the communication path with the Quantum Processing Unit (QPU). Analysis and development of monitoring tools and alerts to ensure availability of the electronics. Supporting any required hardware replacements, servicing and troubleshooting after system deployment.

High School Diploma/GED

Preferred education

Associate's Degree/College Diploma

Required technical and professional expertise
Introduction to programming
Experience working with hardware engineering and development teams
Hands-on experience with electronic systems
Experience working in a lab environment
Experience and ability to deliver in a time-constrained environment
Strong Communication Skills

Preferred technical and professional experience

  • Prior knowledge of Quantum Systems and Quantum technology
    Experience with python/scription
  • Experience with microcontrollers/microelectronics
  • IT/Network experience, knowledge of how to install config and verify network connectivity
  • Ability to test and verify input/output RF signals with control electronics
  • Knowledge of Cooling Distribution Units, how to install, configure, troubleshoot
  • Understanding of Power Distribution Units and can identify power consumption of control electronics

For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
