Job Description
Job Title: Radiologic Technologist
Job Specialty: Orthopedic/Sports Medicine Radiology
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience:
License: IEMA Radiography License
Certifications: Radiography (R)(ARRT), BLS AHA
Must-Have: Proficiency in English (speak, read, write)
Job Description:
- Perform radiographic procedures by acquiring and processing patient exams according to applicable guidelines and department protocols.
- Review cases with the radiologist when appropriate.
- Review labs and patient history to perform correct exams and administer IV contrast and oral/rectal contrast when appropriate.
- Recognize and respond to adverse or allergic reactions, administering IV contrast material through existing IV lines or by performing venipuncture.
- Screen patients for pregnancy and perform pregnancy testing if applicable.
- Review radiology orders for completeness and accuracy; evaluate patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity.
- Gather additional information as needed from patients, ordering providers, and/or radiologists.
- Ensure imaging quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and alignment.
- Review patient data for accuracy, quality, and completeness; transfer and verify image data in PACS.
- Utilize web servers and email systems to send exams for preliminary readings after hours.
- Maintain imaging equipment and work environment, including supply inventories and organization.
- Report equipment malfunctions and service needs promptly; ensure patient, visitor, and environmental safety and report safety incidents immediately.
- Assist in instructing students and new staff as needed.
- Fulfill the role of Radiologic Technologist Lead or Imaging Coordinator, if necessary.
- Meet productivity benchmarks and assist other areas during downtimes.
- Perform duties of other modalities within the department as licensed and compliant with accreditation bodies.
- No secondary registries required for cross-trained modalities unless specifically required by specific compliance or licensure regulations.
