Job Description
Job Title: Radiologic Technologist - Cardiovascular Invasive
Job Specialty: Radiology
Job Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day, 6:30 AM - 5 PM (4x10 Hr)
Guaranteed Hours: 40.00 Hours
Experience: Minimum three (3) years of applicable experience
License: IEMA License in Radiologic Technology
Certifications:
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- ARRT Registration in Radiology
Must-Have:
- Knowledge of hemodynamic concepts, cardiac anatomy and physiology
- Competency in moderate sedation administration and policy protocol
- Knowledge of EP concepts, theory, fluoroscopic anatomy, and physiology
- Advanced knowledge of EKG interpretation and arrhythmia recognition
- Basic computer skills with word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browsing
Job Description:
- Assist cardiologists in performing invasive coronary/vascular/EP diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures.
- Set up and operate various electrical/imaging equipment and computers.
- Display good judgment, problem-solving skills, and ability to organize and prioritize performance.
- Advocate for patient's needs and handle procedural results/outcome interpretation.
- Ensure proper operation and selection of procedural supplies/equipment.
- Operate monophasic and biphasic defibrillators.
- Communicate effectively and educate patients during procedures to alleviate anxiety and ensure focused care.
- Recognize and assist with any anesthesia needs for deeply sedated or anesthetized patients.
- Collaborate with Research RN/Coordinator in laboratory-based research.
- Train and mentor team members with excellence in communication.
- Maintain professional interaction with vendors to ensure patient safety and positive outcomes.
- Update knowledge and skills as new equipment is implemented.
- Perform daily checks and evaluate equipment for adequate performance and safety.
- Manage the digital archiving system safely storing patient images and reports.
- Report any equipment malfunction promptly and remove malfunctioning equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve equipment-related issues.
- Query archived images from deep storage and create CDs to transmit patient information.
- Provide care in the Cath Lab using guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Report significant observations and reactions to appropriate personnel and document care provided.
- Maintain knowledge of aseptic techniques and assist in passing sterile guidewires, catheters, and other devices.
- Prepare instruments for sterilization and suggest procedural changes for quality care.
- Set up sterile fields and ensure proper aseptic techniques.
- Accurately interpret EKG and alert physicians of any irregular activities.
