Job Description:
- Provide safe, age-appropriate care by performing exams according to department procedures
- Obtain complete clinical history and assess for contraindicating conditions
- Administer contrast media per established procedures
- Ensure proper identification and marking of radiographic images
- Evaluate images for clinical acceptability and release patients
- Respond to emergency situations and maintain life support equipment as needed
- Collaborate with other technologists and assist in various modalities
- Verify patient identifiers and clinical orders before procedures
- Accommodate patient privacy and comfort
- Organize schedules and priorities to complete required activities
- Use critical thinking skills to clarify and verify ambiguous orders
- Demonstrate competency in pre-and post-procedural care and sterile techniques
- Maintain competency with venipuncture if applicable
- Adjust imaging techniques to deliver the lowest possible dose of ionizing radiation while maintaining quality
- Report equipment malfunctions for timely correction
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain equipment per infection control policies
- Operate all equipment aspects safely and competently
- Explain exam purposes and procedures to minimize patient anxiety and facilitate cooperation
- Address patient questions and concerns, notifying a physician if necessary
- Participate in the orientation and training of departmental employees
- Provide patients with preparatory instructions and explanations
- Document with concise and precise terminology
- Keep informed of departmental and hospital-wide education requirements
- Produce high-quality images, ensuring proper calibration and operational equipment
- Restock linens and supplies, and maintain a clean, orderly environment
- Transport and position patients, assisting them on and off procedure tables
- Perform patient charging activities on service days
- Apply shielding and immobilization devices when required
- Support clerical and support personnel as needed to ensure continuity and service quality
- Notify supervisors promptly of problems or potential issues
- Maintain productivity rates equal to co-workers
- Take call when necessary
- Perform any other duties as assigned
