Job Title: Radiation Therapist

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a radiation therapist
License: Active state license required
Certifications: ARRT certification required

Must-Have: Knowledge of radiation therapy procedures and equipment operation, familiarity with patient care techniques, and strong interpersonal and analytical skills

Description:
General job duties include reviewing patients' medical charts for prescriptions, treatment times, and prescribed doses.
Confer with physicians as necessary to clarify orders.
Gather information on new patients including prior diagnostic studies and treatment history.
Assist the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicist in patient simulation and localization procedures.
Schedule diagnostic exams, revise treatment plans with physicians, obtain tumor localization films, place necessary markings on patients, fabricate immobilization devices, and assemble treatment charts.
Explain procedures to patients to alleviate fears and promote cooperation.
Inform patients of possible treatment reactions, side effects, and provide advice on care for irradiated body areas.
Utilize the computer system to enter charges for treatments rendered.
Position patients under equipment according to procedures and required standards of accuracy.
Maintain supply inventory to ensure the availability of needed supplies.
Observe patients during procedures via CCTV monitoring to ensure proper positioning.
Report any changes in patient condition, psychological or physiological, to the physician or appropriate care personnel.
Fabricate custom treatment devices for individual patients.
Perform quality control tests on treatment equipment according to established procedures and record and report results.
Use equipment such as CT/Sim, linear accelerators, and radiation oncology management software.
Additional training may be provided for new equipment.
The department is newly established and includes clinical space for ongoing operations.

Dress Code:
Only solid-colored scrub pants may be worn.
Scrub pants must not drag on the floor.
Printed scrub tops may be worn if appropriate for the workplace.
Footwear is limited to closed-toe shoes without holes on the top.
Jewelry and adornments must be simple and appropriate.
Hair must be clean, neatly styled, and manageable.
Make-up should be moderately applied for a professional appearance.
Excessive odors are not permitted.
Fingernails must be neatly manicured and of reasonable length.
Tattoos must be appropriate and non-offensive to others.
All candidates must comply with hygiene regulations and personal appearance standards.
