Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Job Specialty: Radiation Therapy GU Oncology
Job Duration: 12 weeks
Shift: Day, 5x8 hour shifts (flexible between 6 AM and 7 PM)
Guaranteed Hours: 40.00 hours
Experience: Minimum years of experience not specified
License: ARRT (T) required
Certifications: BLS (AHA or ARC) required
Must-Have: Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Therapeutic Radiology or international equivalent
Job Description:
- Responsible for optimum planning and treatment of radiation therapy patients with ionizing radiation as directed by Radiation Oncologists and under the supervision of the Chief Therapist.
- Adhere to regulatory guidelines while treating patients with ionizing radiation.
- Monitor equipment parameters, document equipment malfunctions, and understand emergency and safety procedures for all equipment.
- Maintain accurate medical records and treatment schedules.
- Input treatment and simulation charge information into Aria and document patient treatment charts.
- Understand emergency and fault procedures for linear accelerators and simulators.
- Recognize and report patient concerns and physical problems to appropriate personnel.
- Communicate instructions and procedures to patients and their families.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness in the clinic.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk, stand, sit, lift, reach, stoop, bend, push, and pull.
- Able to lift and support 35 pounds while handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
- Must have an intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch.
- Requires finger dexterity, critical thinking, and the ability to concentrate.
- Must be able to respond quickly and make decisions regarding changes within the unit.
- Must speak and understand English effectively.
