Job Title: Radiologic Technologist
Job Specialty: Computed Tomography
Job Duration: 13 months
Shift: Afternoons - 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, Monday to Friday; Rotating every other weekend
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week

License: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or registry-eligible
Certifications: BLS

Job Description:
- Specialize in performing computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients.
- Conduct general diagnostic radiology examinations as needed.
- Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for examination.
- Review clinical data on requisition and perform appropriate examinations.
- Obtain additional patient medical history information as necessary.
- Prepare procedure room and regularly replenish stock such as linen and related supplies.
- Analyze anatomical structure of patient, set up equipment and perform CT scans.
- Manually control equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information from the area being studied.
- Administer intravenous contrast media including utilization of power injectors; monitor for possible reactions and provide immediate care if a reaction occurs.
- Prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures.
- Assist Radiologist with complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.
- Demonstrate principles of radiation protection, including patient shielding, equipment settings, and ALARA techniques.
- Resolve image exceptions and ensure high-quality image delivery into PACS; manage study indexing in the Radiology Information System.
- Confirm clinical protocols with Radiologist before performing studies.
- Demonstrate customer service excellence through open communication, timely responses, positive attitude, and respect for diversity.
- Document in medical records and the radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
- Work in hospital with fixed unit or in ambulatory mobile unit.
- Potential exposure to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized.
- Exposure to high-voltage equipment and potentially contagious patients.
- Occasionally lift and/or move equipment and/or patients exceeding 10 lbs.
Education:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Continued medical education required
