Job Title: Radiologic Technologist

Profession: Radiologic Technologist

Shift: Full-time Midnights every other weekend

Hours per Shift: 12 hours (2 shifts), 8 hours (2 shifts)

Experience: Minimum of one year of CT experience

License: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and hold the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or be registry-eligible

Certifications: BLS

Description:
Under general supervision, the Radiologic Technologist specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients.

May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations as needed.

Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination.

Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs the appropriate examination.

Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary.

Prepares the procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies.

Analyzes anatomical structures of patients, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan.

Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied.

Administers intravenous contrast media, including the utilization of power injectors.

Monitors patients for possible reactions and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs.

May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures.

Ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored.

Assists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.

Performs all imaging procedures by demonstrating principles of radiation protection, including shielding patients and selecting appropriate equipment settings to reduce dose.

Resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS.

Completes all study indexing in the Radiology Information System (RIS).

Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with the radiologist before performing studies.

Demonstrates team member standards of excellence, including communication and a positive attitude.

Performs documentation in the medical record and within the RIS to support all clinical and billing functions.

May work in a hospital with a fixed unit or in an ambulatory unit.

May be exposed to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized.

May be exposed to potentially contagious patients.

Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment or patients exceeding 10 lbs.
