Job Description
Job Title: Radiologic Technologist I
Job Specialty: Interventional Radiology
Job Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Weekend On Call-Only, Holidays as Needed
Guaranteed Hours: 40.00 per week
Experience: 1-2 years of Interventional Radiology required, experience with Epic preferred
License: Must possess New Jersey State License
Certifications: Applicant must meet the requirements for the National Registry and pass the examination
Must-Have: Interventional Radiology Experience
Job Description:
- Produce diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, and selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs.
- Select and operate equipment as required for specific procedures.
- Restrict radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to avoid exposing unaffected parts of the patient.
- Perform portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and the emergency room.
- Follow operational procedures to identify patient's films with name and x-ray number, correctly marking the film as to the side of the patient taken.
- Develop exposed x-ray film by available processing methods.
- Complete patient requisitions with technologist initials, date, number, and size of film.
- Maintain orderly x-ray room as directed by the department head.
- Prepare radiopaque contrast media and assist physicians in administering radiopaque mixtures to patients.
- Perform administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patient instructions, film filing, maintenance of records, reception of patients, and other administrative duties as required.
- Provide services and assistance to all patients depending on their individual needs and abilities, including moving, turning, and getting on and off the x-ray tables.
- Lift a minimum of 5 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 10 lbs., and stand a minimum of 6 hours a day.
- Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care specific to those needs, including age, culture, language, and impairments. This includes effectively communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s).
- Adhere to the standards identified in the organizational competencies.
- Support both body and neuro procedures in a department with 3 IR suites, 2 biplanes, and one single plane, as well as a 9 bay recovery room.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- Completion of clinical and A.R.R.T. requirements.
