Job Title: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
Job Specialty: Cardiovascular Procedures

Shift: Day - 10x4 - 07 AM to 5:30 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
Experience: Preferred - One year of Cardiac Catheterization Lab experience, Special procedures experience
License: Surgical Assistant License or Surgical Technologist Certification required upon hire (State-specific requirements apply)
Certifications: BLS (AHA) Required, ACLS (AHA) Required, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) through CCI; OR Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES); OR RRT with post-primary certification of Cardiac Interventional Radiography through ARRT
Must-Have: English proficiency (Speak, Read, Write)

Job Description:

- Effectively assist physicians in performing a variety of highly specialized cardiovascular procedures, including diagnostic and interventional catheterization, pacemaker/defibrillator implantation, intra-aortic balloon pump operation (IABP), and electrophysiology studies.
- Evaluate and document patient status, respond appropriately, and ensure optimal patient outcomes. Intervene and refer in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate clinical expertise, competence, and proficiency based on knowledge and skills, exceeding essential job responsibilities per department standards.
- Show commitment to continued learning and share knowledge with patients and colleagues.
- Exhibit team player characteristics; be punctual, willing to assist others, and participate in subcommittees and in-services.
- Engage in performance improvement activities to evaluate care outcomes, driven by curiosity and desire to know more.
- Accept accountability for using evidence to monitor and improve care based on regulatory and practice standards.
- Effectively and safely utilize equipment, time, personnel, and supplies to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Adapt to changing workloads, patient needs, technologies, policies, regulations, census, and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.
- Maintain a high skill level through participation in CQI, in-services, ongoing education, and attend at least 80% of staff meetings.
- Provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy.
- Recognize and act promptly upon unusual results or patient responses by informing the primary health care team to ensure patient safety and foster optimal outcomes.
- Handle a variety of personality types, ages, and levels of consciousness in patients. Adjust communication approach based on the patient or family's level of understanding of the test procedure.
- Troubleshoot and correct recording instrument malfunctions or unusual patient problems that interfere with recordings promptly.
- Independently prioritize clinical and administrative work, identify process improvements, and process patient and department records, ensuring documentation of performed tests in accordance with hospital standards.
- May be required to float to other locations within a specified distance of the original assignment or identified float zone. Assignments may include duties outside of original job requirements in line with policy.
