Position Summary
Based in Atlanta GA, we are now actively recruiting an Electrical Busway R&D Application Engineer.
As Electrical Busway R&D Application Engineer, the candidate will be responsible for developing Busway system products for Projects within the USA. Busway systems are used in many large-scale buildings and industries between, for example, the transformers and the low-voltage distributors, as well as to supply energy to the servers in the data rooms of a Data Center. Since Busway systems frequently have to be designed within the buildings at an early stage, the role of developing products that meet customers' needs, testing and certifying these products, and making them available for sale in the market is very important.
This position is also expected to work as part of the LS Busway Sales Team and in cooperation with the LS Busway Project Management Team and the Engineering Team to successfully demonstrate our product, articulate our competitive differentiators/complementary features, facilitate Q&A, and gather technical and commercial requirements to successfully complete quotations and orders on time. The Busway R&D Application Engineer will provide technical guidance, respond to, and help manage customer expectations throughout the sales cycle. The candidate will also build positive professional relationships with the LS Busway colleagues and external customers.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for Design of LV Busway solutions:
- Busway product design: Busbar and Busway enclosure design, Busway system design, Busway material design
- Busway product development: Improving and differentiation of the Busway product functions and performance
- Busduct product certification: standards/customer certification for new products, long-term reliability test evaluation
- Development of Multiple PH Box: Development of Bus Plug with built-in 2, 4, and 6 breakers
- Temperature, Short Circuit, Withstand Pressure and Mechanical Test Evaluations
- Development of Reducer Box: Development of Reducer Box with built-in ACB (5000/2500A)
- Develop and design electrical busway products to meet performance, safety, and compliance requirements
- Conduct research and development activities to enhance busway product performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
- Manage prototype development, testing, and validation processes to ensure design feasibility and reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and procurement, to optimize product design and production
- Analyze technical issues, troubleshoot design problems, and provide engineering solutions
- Perform market and technology trend analysis to propose innovative design improvements and new product development strategies
- Be the point person for the Regional Sales Team to provide technical support on existing products. This includes customer visits, product demonstrations, training sessions, phone, and email support. Provide timely and effective communication to internal and external customers.
- Maintain strong support and interact with the sales team, Project Management team and Engineering Team and Independent Sales Representatives in the bid process which includes quotation development, order spec review and interpretation and direction of the application engineer.
- Provide technical and commercial assistance to the Project Management and Engineering Team on existing products to allow them to complete quotations, and negotiate final pricing based on competitive market information within agreed time frame.
- The R&D Application Engineer will support the determination of the technical and commercial requirements for all complex quotations and provide the information to the Project Management and Engineering teams to complete the quote.
- Coordinate and conduct training of existing LS Busway products for Independent Reps and customers. Customer training typically takes place at the customer office/site. The R&D Application Engineer will be responsible for developing training materials where needed and other related documentation required by the customer's application.
- Work with customer and sales representatives to design and develop a custom solution that satisfies the customer's requirements.
- Provide technical and assistance to the Sales and Project Management teams in preparation for meetings involving large bids.
- Identify opportunities to develop technical papers and sales success stories. Prepare those documents in concert with the Engineering team as additional sales tools for the Sales Team
- Fully participate in company meetings including department specific meetings.
- Provide monthly reports that include, and not limited to, opportunities working on, voice of the Customer feedback, new requirements, needs, and applications seen in the market and industry. This includes new product and product enhancement ideas.
- Support technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and compliance certifications
- Develop and maintain design standards, guidelines, and best practices for busway product development
- Provide technical support for customer inquiries, sales, and marketing activities, including proposal development and product presentations
- Other duties to support R&D initiatives and continuous product improvement
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a bachelor's degree (B. S.) (Electrical Engineering degree preferred) from four-year college or university is required and a minimum 3-4 years' experience working in an application engineering or comparable role.
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Must be verse in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Has familiarity with customer management tools.
- Must have the ability to multi-task, excellent presentation, phone skills, negotiating skills, technical writing skills, order specification writing and organizational skills.
- Electrical / Mechatronics Degree or Technical Trade background, experience in similar Engineering role.
Ideally you will also have:
- Detailed knowledge of electric power busway, its applications and use cases.
- Extensive experience working with industrial, commercial, electrical contractors, general contractors and electrical consulting engineers and EPC engineers working in the electrical power distribution industry.
- LV Busway Technical Exposure & Experience
- AutoCAD Skills / Revit
- Understanding of power systems such as transmission/substation/distribution
- Understanding of structural analysis programs based on the Finite Element Method (FEM)
- Experience with design and construct projects which supply solutions that integrate existing technology to meet customer requirements, in accordance with relevant standards and specifications
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and facilitating meetings, workshops, training, and problem resolution activities
- Experience on LS Cable & System's Busway solutions
- Bilingual person who can speak fluently and understand Korean as well as English
