About the Job:
Keysight is looking for a mechanical engineer to join our R&D team in Colorado Springs, CO. This individual will be responsible for the mechanical architecture and component design for electronic test and measurement products.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
Use 3D CAD tools to design and fully model new electronic products
Use 2D CAD drawing tools to document part designs for manufacturing
Own the mechanical architecture and cooling of new products and support the design team with available options as problems and tradeoffs arise.
Own the mechanical aspects of printed circuit boards, including board outline, mounting holes, connectors, mechanical part placement, heat sinks, and component height and placement restrictions.
Design RF and discrete-wire cable harnesses for internal and external interconnections.
Design product labels that meet Keysight's branding and industrial design requirements.
Apply mechanical engineering skillset to all phases of the product design process, including design, validation, prototyping, evaluation, and testing
Utilize simulation software tools when necessary to analyze stress and heat transfer of virtual designs.
Ensure designs meet Keysight's quality, environmental, and regulatory requirements
Document design decisions, learnings, and test results
Consult with organizations outside of R&D to ensure product designs meet marketing, manufacturing, and other business goals
Learn and understand Keysight's supply chain and work with new and preferred suppliers to support design goals

Qualifications

Requirements:
BS/MSME or applicable experience and education
Experience using 3D CAD and mechanical simulation tools
Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplined team environment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on challenging tasks
Great aptitude for engineering analysis and solutions
Interest and aptitude in hands-on work required during the prototyping process. Comfort using hand tools (such as screwdrivers, files, and soldering irons) and basic hacking and reworking processes
Strong working knowledge of engineering calculations and principles
Strong communication and planning skills
Passion to continuously investigate new technologies, tools, and processes that apply to electronic product design
Strong work ethic
Strong communication and documentation skills, ability to collaborate cross-functionally with a team-oriented mindset
Basic understanding of material selection and manufacturing processes

Desired Qualifications:
MS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
4-5 years of mechanical design experience
Some Electrical Engineering course work (circuit theory, logic circuits), and overall interest in electronic devices and systems
Experience with machining, molding, soldering, circuit board fabrication and assembly processes
Experience designing or working with electro-mechanical assemblies
Basic understanding of RF shielding
Experience with manufacturing process and quality control
Basic understanding of DFM (design for manufacturing) and DSA (design for assembly) principles
PCB design experience involving collaboration with EE's through the design life cycle

The level of role will be based on applicable experience, education and skills; Most offers will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the Salary Range listed below.

Colorado Springs, CO pay range: MIN $103,650 - MAX $172,740
