Position Description:
At East Middle School, we are seeking a passionate and skilled teacher to provide targeted Reading intervention and to provide key Tier 2 intervention in the area of academic, social and emotional skill development. Candidates selected to fill the role of our reading and intervention teacher at East Middle School, will be welcomed to our East community and given the great responsibility of continuing our long standing commitment to academic excellence. This will be achieved through:
- Building positive relationships and working collaboratively with students, parents, and staff members to foster a positive experience for the entire learning community.
- Implementation of culturally responsive instructionally strateiges and restorative practices to meet the needs of each student.
- The design and delivery of small group and individualized reading intervention including the collection and reporting of progress monitoring data.
- The design and delivery of Tier 2 intervention targeting the development of academic, social and emotional skills including the collection and reporitng of progress monitoring data.
- Use of evidence based strategies to improve the reading skills of identified students, this may include Orton Gillingham and CORE training elements.
- Being a member our MTSS teams, providing consultation and analysis of standardized testing measure to support and design intervention planning.
- Collaboration and coaching with classroom teachers in the integration of essential literacy strategies in Tier 1 instruction and Tier 2 interventions.

Qualifications:
- Must have a valid MN License in Reading or be in process of application for licensure; specialized training in reading intervention programs preferred.
- Ideal candidates should have experience with multiple instructional designs, data driven instruction and differentiated strategies to improve student outcomes
- Must have the ability to build positive working relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Effective collaboration and communication skills with students, families, teachers and support staff
- A commitment to culturally responsive instructional strategies and a relentless commitment to improving student outcomes
