Description
The Recreation Deputy Director oversees the daily operations of the athletic, aquatic, and grounds maintenance divisions within Parks and Recreation for Beaufort County. Responsibilities include: assisting Director in overseeing and coordinating Department operations and recreational programs; managing staff; training workforce; developing and administering operational policies and procedures; determining and approving the rental agreements; inspecting and monitoring the operations to ensure compliance with safety and security requirements; preparing and monitoring Department budgets; developing bid specifications; obtaining and evaluating equipment quotes; approving and authorizing expenditures; reviewing records and reports to track inventories, operation logs; and identifying areas for improvements.

- Manages staff by prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
- Oversees and coordinates Department operations and programs, which includes: recommending and implementing hours of operation, service offerings, fee schedules, and Department policies, procedures and practices; coordinating services offered; and determining and approving the terms of rental agreements.
- Prepares and manages project budgets; forecasts staffing, equipment, and material expenses for budget planning; monitors and controls expenditures; and adjusts budget items as needed.
- Responds to questions, comments, or complaints from the public; investigates and resolves issues.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of operational records and reports, which includes bid specifications, financial reports, and rental agreements.
- Performs other related duties of a similar nature or level.
