About the role
The Refinery Manager will lead a workforce in a fast-pacedmanufacturing environment to help optimize our vegetable oil refinery and bleachingoperations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in edible oilprocessing, focusing on refining and bleaching techniques. He / She is responsiblefor the management, direction, coordination, and overall success of all the oilrefinery operations related to manufacturing and supplying quality oil on timefor all internal and external customers. This position provides direct oversight and direction to all refineryemployees and must ensure safe, efficient, and on-time production of bulk andpackaging oils needed for the facility.
Responsibilities
Safety & Environmental Performance
Lead, monitor, and enforce full plant-wide compliance with safety and food safety rules to further our goal of "0" incidents and encourage reporting and correcting near misses and hazardous conditions
Identify high-risk safety/productivity issues and help to remedy the issues
Report and communicate with Environmental and Safety Manager to ensure compliance in all these areas
Adhere to SOPs and other work procedures as required to assure product quality and consistency to our customers.
Work Requirements
Oversee and optimize the entire vegetable oil refining process, from degumming to bleaching
Specialize in the continuous bleaching process
Monitor and control process parameters such as temperature, pressure, and contact time to maximize bleaching efficiency
Develop and implement strategies to reduce bleaching clay and any other filter aids consumption while maintaining product quality
Troubleshoot process issues and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and product quality
Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to ensure smooth plant operations
Conduct process hazard analyses (PHA) and participate in HAZOP studies
Prepare and update process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
Perform equipment sizing calculations and specify process equipment
Keep production running smoothly and efficiently
Monitor and optimize caustic and phosphoric acid usage
Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or among departments
Creates, leads, and controls a work environment that utilizes a quality management system with a focus on "Right First Time"
Manage safety upgrades and audit improvements regarding safety procedures and policies
Builds employee engagement through positive working relationships and promotion of an enthusiastic and open atmosphere where employees will want to offer their ideas
Adhere to SOPs and other work procedures as required to assure product quality and consistency to our customers
Develop a team environment in the Refinery/Bleaching Department
Resolve all production and processing quality issues in coordination with the Quality Department
Cost Control
Monitor the rework and waste oil generated and recommend improvements to eliminate
Monitor and manage utility efficiency and costs in all areas
Provide necessary training and counseling to employees to ensure employees are meeting quality and cost objectives
About you
BS Degree in bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related field.
7or more years of management experience in a manufacturing or vegetable oilrefining environment preferred. Inaddition:
Experience in a lean manufacturing environment
Previous experience in the operational aspects of edible oil production is preferred
Minimum of 4 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in the edible oil industry
In-depth knowledge of vegetable oil refining processes, especially bleaching techniques
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental compliance in the food processing industry
Knowledge of cooling towers, wastewater systems
Demonstrated leadership and management capability
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
