Essential Functions
- Assists local government in developing and improving the local emergency management program.
- Facilitates regional coordination for Disaster Preparedness and Response.
- Assists in Stakeholder Engagement, Outreach, and Community Resilience.
- Serves as working supervisor for regional operations division staff.
- Coordinates the federal, state, and local disaster response and assists with disaster recovery operations.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration.
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization.
Specialized Skills
- Requires two (2) years of experience serving in an ICS (Incident Command System) role for a disaster response operation at the state or federal level.
- Requires two (2) years of public speaking experience in a professional setting.
- Requires two (2) years of professional experience establishing and fostering relationships/ partnerships with community partners at the local, state, and federal levels of emergency management.
- Requires two (2) years of professional experience as a working supervisor and/or lead worker.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of experience serving in an ICS (Incident Command System) role for a disaster response operation at the state or federal level.
- Two (2) years of public speaking experience in a professional setting.
- Two (2) years of professional experience establishing and fostering relationships/partnerships with community partners at the local, state, and federal levels of emergency management.
- Two (2) years of professional experience as a working supervisor and/or lead worker.
- Two (2) years of professional experience in creating policies, procedures, or plans.
- Two (2) years of professional experience in state utilized information technology systems including the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe, SharePoint, Teams, Google, WebEOC, and advanced systems such as Artificial Intelligence and related programs.
- Two (2) years of professional experience in administering State and federal programs.
- Two (2) years of professional experience in emergency management or closely related field.
- Two (2) years of professional experience in conducting training or creating training content.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires a criminal history check through the Illinois State Police.
- Requires ability to use state-supplied equipment such as cell phone, laptop, etc.
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver's license.
- Requires the ability to travel for activation requirements for disaster response operations as needed.
- Overtime is a condition of employment, and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime. This may require the ability to work evenings and weekends.
