specific job functions (Duties/Responsibilities):
- Assist in regional business development strategy.
- Provide enthusiastic, professional leadership and coaching to Commercial Lenders and area support staff. Ensure that service delivery is consistent, expedient, accurate, professional and courteous.
- Assist in origination of Commercial Loans, Deposit Growth and the sale of ancillary services.
- Make sound credit recommendations based on Bank lending policy.
- Support Lender business development efforts.
- Make joint calls on large or unusual commercial customers in support of lender efforts
- Help introduce customers/prospects to other Bank business services specialists as needed to fully meet client needs.
- Maintain current knowledge of all Bank services and products.
- Proactively manage and service assigned loan portfolios to manage risks and ensure a minimum of delinquencies, substandard loans and documentation exceptions.
- Analyze portfolio characteristics and report positive and negative variances to management in growth, risk ratings, payout maturities, concentrations, etc.
- Actively monitor major past due accounts and communicate/coordinate resolutions to any past due and workout situations with both lenders and Credit Administration.
- Exercise the usual authority of a manager concerning hiring, performance planning, coaching and performance improvement plans and reviews, and pay, promotion and termination recommendations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:
- The ability to coach/support lenders on business development process - schedule, prepare for and conduct professional business development calls on customers and prospects.
- Ability to coach/support lenders - analyze commercial and small business financials and tax returns, and to underwrite loan requests.
- Knowledge of the types of loans and loan documentation utilized at Southern Bank.
- A thorough working knowledge of Southern Bank lending policy.
- Knowledge of applicable lending laws and regulations.
- Ability to work with limited supervision, and seek assistance as needed.
- Personal credibility and the ability to sell Bank products and services.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field.
- Typically a minimum of fifteen years of experience soliciting and developing new client relationships, managing or supervising as well as experience originating and/or underwriting commercial loans and small business loans. Coaching and leadership skills required.
