Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $35.28 - $57.60 per hour, based on experience
Retention Rewards: Up to $15,000

o Relocation Support: Additional $5,000 if moving from over 50 miles away

o Retention Reward (Option 1): $2,000 per year for up to 5 years, totaling $10,000

o Student Loan Repayment (Option 2): $2,000 per year toward student loans, up to 5 years, totaling $10,000

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Microscopically examine cells of human body to determine their normality or abnormality; execute a variety of laboratory tests and analyses to confirm findings. Cells typically studied include pap smears, non-gyn specimens and FNA's.

Assist in follow-up procedures on all abnormal cases.

Utilize various types of equipment (microscope, centrifuge cytocentrifuge, and staining equipment) necessary for the successful operation of the laboratory.

Prepare individual reports on specimens screened.

Present lectures to Pathology Residents and Cytotechnologists.

Re-screen Resident cases, explaining any errors or omissions they may have made in interpreting cells.

Assist in preparing teaching materials for Pathology Residents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor's degree with specialization in Cytotechnology or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.

Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists in Cytology is necessary.

Completion of one year of formal training in an ASCP approved Cytotechnology Program is necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 lbs and occasionally move objects up to 25 lbs.

This role may also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
