Job Description
Job Title: Registered Dietitian
Job Specialty: Food and Nutrition Services
Job Duration: 14 months
Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, one Saturday per month required
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum one year of experience required, two years preferred
License: New York State Certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist
Certifications: Registered Dietitian, New York State Certification, issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Dietitian-Nutritionist, Registration by the Commissions on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as a Registered Dietitian
Must-Have:
- Graduate from an accredited college or university with a degree in Dietetics or Foods and Nutrition
- Primary Source Verification
Job Description:
- Screen and assess patients in an accurate and timely manner based on levels of care; determine patients' nutritional needs and status, and provide follow-up care.
- Interview patients and their families to obtain a history of food habits and preferences.
- Monitor patients for and provide education on food and drug interactions; document food and drug interactions in the education section.
- Interpret pertinent laboratory, physical, and social data in the medical record as it applies to nutrition care.
- Provide nutrition education and record patient's diet and diet instructions, including the patient's understanding of the diet in the education section.
- Consult with physicians regarding appropriate diet modifications.
- Modify patient menus as needed.
Additional Notes:
- A Master's degree is preferred.
- AHA BLS certification is preferred for Post-Acute locations.
Note: All newly-hired dietitians assigned to a Post-Acute Care facility are required to have New York State Certification as a Dietitian-Nutritionist at the time of hire.
