JOB SUMMARY:

As the Registered Land Surveyor for the survey & mapping division for CERM, you will oversee the group of employees that produces surveying and mapping drawings and data for a wide-ranging scope of projects and clients. These range from municipal, public-works improvement and transportation-related projects to private, commercial developments. You will direct project activities to ensure accurate and timely project delivery and client satisfaction; optimize return on investment of company financial and human resources; provide business development; and provide administrative leadership and guidance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of land surveying projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Accommodate client and job site needs by responding to all inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform technical aspects of surveying when required to include but not limited to measuring distances, directions, and angles, researching land records, determine boundary lines, record results of surveying and verify the accuracy of data, prepare plots, maps, and reports, and write descriptions of land and other legal documents
  • Development of data compilation system for the survey & mapping division
  • Performs construction staking and topographic surveys
  • Creates as-built drawings from survey data, ensuring conformance to project specifications and tolerances, maintain survey records, GPS, and CAD files
  • Conduct field surveys and measurements using a variety of modern surveying equipment, such as total stations and GPS.
  • Prepare maps, diagrams, and reports detailing the results of surveys and ensuring their accuracy
  • Provide monthly quantities via drone and survey data
  • Resolve discrepancies in survey results
  • Collaborate with civil, architects, construction personnel, and planners to provide surveying information for construction and development projects
  • Well-versed in Civil 3D experience- surfacing modeling
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and construction documents
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and codes
  • Stay up to date with new surveying technology and industry developments.
  • Performs work both in the field and in an office environment
  • Responsible for development of all project deliverables and operational information
  • Responsible for timely presentation of project deliverables to clients
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all project management functions to include, but not limited to:
    • Accounting/budgeting, such as project set-up for accounting and administrative compliance, monitoring project budget, managing personnel hours, assisting with invoice collection calls,
    • Business Development: Maintain positive client relations, marketing, serve as proposal leader for the survey & mapping division, actively seek to expand scope of work with the client, & attend meetings
    • Leadership/ Staff Management: Accountable for all project resources to include scheduling staff, encourage staff to meet the client's expectations, provide hands-on coaching & guidance to ensure professional development of staff,
    • Project Execution: Lead project planning activities, communicate with project stakeholders, manage the workload and report workload projections
    • Quality Assurance/ Risk Management: Contractual document execution, communication of project assurance plan to the project team, report risk exposures and occurrences to senior management, formulate quality control/ assurance processes to minimize risk, ensure project files are properly set-up and maintained
  • Costing & Estimating: develop cost estimate on projects which includes understanding the scope of work and resources needed to bid
  • Other duties as assigned


Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of applicable State and local laws and rules; ability to obtain and understand client and/or project-specific requirements, procedures, and standards, and be able to integrate those into the work process and into the final deliverables.
  • Experience with transportation projects, to include right-of-way, parcel and easement resolutions and topographic database preparations; infrastructure inventory and assessment projects, to include field collection and GIS input of asset data; and typical civil/site projects, to include boundary, ALTA, and topographic surveys, and construction staking.
  • Software: Familiarization with and/or working knowledge of: OpenRoads, MicroStation, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and other typical office-related software (i.e.: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience working with state DOTs (ALDOT, FDOT, & GDOT), preferred.


Required Experience

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:
  • Registered Land Surveyor in GA; with the ability to become registered in AL & FL
  • 10 years of experience in surveying; at least five years as a Registered Land Surveyor

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Registered Land Surveyor in GA, AL & FL, preferred

LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS:
  • Registered Land Surveyor
