Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Job Specialty: Emergency Department
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 7P-7A, 12-hour Night Shift
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 1-year experience in an ED setting, preferably in a Level 2 Trauma Center
License: RN License
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, MOAB or CPI (strongly preferred)
Must-Have: Trauma experience, ventilator management, critical care drips/titration, cardiac rhythm interpretation
Job Description:
- Work in a Level II Trauma Center that receives air flights
- Serve a diverse patient population including multi-specialty medical/cardiac/neuro/ortho/trauma/interventional cases
- Handle unique acuity within the fast-paced Emergency Department
- Manage patient types ranging from neonates to geriatrics
- Provide care for common diagnoses such as DKA, sepsis, multi-system trauma, respiratory failure, renal failure, COVID, ETOH, IVDA, mental health disorders
- Participate in stroke interventions and cardiac events management
- Maintain patient ratios based on acuity across different units within the emergency department
- Perform tasks such as trauma care, ventilator management, administering critical care drips, interpreting cardiac rhythms, measuring cardiac strips, and handling drains and chest tubes
- Utilize hemodynamic monitoring tools such as art lines and central venous pressure lines
- Conduct conscious sedation and assist with splinting and US-guided IVs
- Collect evidence for sexual assault cases and manage patient interviews
- Collaborate with a team consisting of secretaries, paramedics, psych techs, CNAs, charge nurses, and other specialized support staff
- Utilize Cerner for charting, Alaris for infusion management, and GE monitors for patient monitoring
- Participate in a comprehensive three-day orientation including NEOS
Note: This position does not require inpatient floating, but will include floating within different areas of the emergency department such as triage, psych, trauma, and holding routinely.
