Job Title: Registered Nurse
Job Specialty: Operating Room
Job Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day 5x8-Hour (10:45 - 21:15) and Day 5x8-Hour (12:45 - 23:15)
Guaranteed Hours:
Experience: Minimum 3 years required
License: Must have active Illinois license in hand or be in application process
Certifications: BLS required; CNOR and CST preferred
Must-Have: Not open to first-time candidates; Weekend requirement of 1 per month; On-call required 1/week; General OR and Trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience required; Cerner experience preferred
Job Description:
- Work with all service lines except Cardiovascular.
- Required Bariatric Case Experience: Laparoscopic assisted cases.
- Required General Surgery Case Experience: Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, Laparoscopic-assisted procedures, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy partial/total, Whipple.
- Required Neurology Case Skills/Experience: Cervical fusion, Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, Lumbar fusion.
- Required Orthopedic Case Skills/Experience: Arthroscopy, Carpal tunnel release, Closed reduction of fractures, Open reduction of fractures.
- Required Plastic Surgery Case Skills/Experience: Free Flap - Microvascular.
- Required Transplant Skills/Experience: Organ donation.
- Required Urology Case Skills/Experience: Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy.
- Required Trauma Case Skills/Experience: Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, MVA (multiple injuries).
- Required Emergency Management Skills/Experience: Code response, Fire safety, Latex Allergy, Malignant Hyperthermia.
- Required Equipment/Instrumentation/Supplies Experience: Electrosurgical units, Fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables.
- Required Professional Knowledge and Skills: Administration of blood products, Infection control, Radiation Safety, Specimen Handling/Labeling, Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure, Urinary bladder catheterization.
- Work in an acute care hospital with a Level I trauma center; Magnet facility.
- Required to float within skill set; rare possibility.
- Non-billable orientation hours: 16; Non-billable up to 16 hours for module completion.
