Job Summary
The Parnassus Infusion Center consists of 40+ chairs and beds, which services the Malignant Hematology and Classical Hematology adult population at UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Parnassus Infusion Center administers investigational and standard of care infusions, including but not limited to, chemotherapy/biotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusions, bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, photopheresis, and cell infusions. The infusion center is staffed by Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants, and Practice Coordinators.
The Outpatient Infusion Clinical Nurse II is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of hematologic disease processes, major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. The nurse assesses patient needs, develops care plans, administers treatments, and monitors patient responses. The nurse also utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $84.78 - $109.85 (Hourly Rate).

The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (HDFCCC) HBC Program provides compassionate, patient-centered care and our team of clinicians and researchers are dedicated to improving outcomes for all patients.
The UCSF Hematology, Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy (HBC) Program provides the best care possible for patients with acute and chronic blood conditions. These conditions include, but are not limited to, leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative neoplasms, aplastic anemia, immune thrombocytopenia, bleeding disorders, clotting disorders (thrombosis) and anemias. Some diseases are inherited while others are acquired, but all require specialized treatment. In addition, UCSF is a leader in blood and bone marrow transplants as well as cellular therapies, which are used to treat a number of blood disorders. Therapies have been developed and continue to be developed in solid-tumor diseases as well. Our expert transplant/cellular therapy team is comprised of doctors, nurses, social workers and additional health professionals who work together to care for individuals and their families throughout the transplant or cellular therapy process.
Apheresis and Extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) are performed on the Parnassus campus at the Parnassus Infusion Center; inpatient procedures are performed as needed. The HBC Program provides apheresis services to autologous and allogeneic donors of hematopoietic and mononuclear cells. The HBC program also provides ECP for chronic graft vs. host disease treatment and for chronic lung allograft dysfunction following lung transplantation.

Required Qualifications
- Two or more years of recent direct patient care as an RN with experience in oncology with one year specific to Hem/BMT
- Must be competent in Photopheresis
- Must demonstrate proficiency in telephone triage skills including basic oncology symptoms and issues related to oncology treatments
- Experience administering infusions, pain management, transfusion therapy, hydration, etc.
- Must demonstrate clinical knowledge essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to this position
- Demonstrates evidence of basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of complex patients such as oncology and a high degree of attention to detail.
- Must demonstrate the ability to function independently and effectively with shifting priorities and considerable pressure
- Must be able to function under stress and with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Must demonstrate effective skills in applying hospital standards in area of service, teamwork, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management. See also Living Pride Standards
- Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with physicians, nurses, and other medical staff. Contributes to team building through participation in unit programs and meetings; contributes to positive morale, using constructive and effective conflict resolution skills

Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of adult oncology nursing experience
- OCN or BMTCN Certification or other relevant specialty certification
- Membership in professional organizations is recommended
License/Certification
- Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
- Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
- Current ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification within six months of hire
