Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:
Five years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A bachelor's degree in nursing plus four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A master's degree in nursing or public health plus four years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A doctorate in nursing or public health plus three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

Makes daily rounds of nursing units and may provide direct patient care on complex cases.
Assumes the duties of Nursing Director in her/his absence.
Assists in planning and directing nursing services for the facility and coordinates activities with other departments.
Determines staffing requirements for nursing division, including professionals and paraprofessionals.
Develops area operation policies, procedures, and standards of care in accordance with overall facility and accreditation committee policies.
Ensures that patient care standards are maintained by supervising and directing activities of subordinate nurses and by participating in quality assurance activities.
Serves as consultant to clinical supervisors on technical and disciplinary issues.
Develops and monitors nursing division budget, and maintains statistics on division activities and patient census.
Reviews master staffing roster to ensure adequate nursing coverage of all units or wards.
Recommends hiring and dismissal of employees.
Initiates, participates in, and evaluates special studies or research concerning nursing care.
Identifies needs for in-service education and serves on facility policies/procedures/standards committees.
Participates in ongoing recruitment programs.
