The Loudoun County Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is seeking a talented and motivated individual to serve as a Registered Nurse in the Community Nursing Services Program. Job Summary
This position is eligible for a $6,000 hiring bonus in accordance with the County's Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.
The Registered Nurse-Community Services will join a multidisciplinary Community-Medical team and be responsible to monitor, supervise, and provide assessment and medical treatment to individuals with complex mental health, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities.
The successful candidate must possess the ability to triage medical and psychiatric conditions, working with the team to oversee treatment. This position provides services and care at Loudoun County facilities and group homes. This is not a telehealth role.
In this role, you will:
Provide patient care and develop patient care plans. Provide accurate patient assessments; implement nursing and healthcare interventions according to policy and procedural standards of the nursing profession and Virginia Department of Health (VDH).
Develop patient plan of care; interpret lab data; provide educational information; maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines; and use universal precautions and personal protective equipment as needed.
Collaborate with medical team to identify and address individuals' medical, psychiatric, dental, and medication needs.
Administer medication in accordance with the Virginia Medication Administration guidelines and requirements.
Provide follow up and coordination of medical care, including following up on physician's orders, discharge planners, medication administration, referrals, appointments, and other necessary actions that ensure clients' needs are adequately addressed.
Document services according to Federal, State, and Department policies, procedures, and regulations.
Educate individuals about psychiatric and medical treatment; serve as the point of contact to triage clients' psychiatric and medical concerns, medication questions, renewals, and refills.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed professionals.
Instruct and certify unlicensed staff on medication administration.
Rotate as part of the on-call schedule to provide 24/7 medical support for Residential Services (additional compensation available).
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Nursing; two (2) years of nursing work experience related to assigned department, preferably in public or community health or behavioral and/or developmental health services, depending on department; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience:
Bilingual (Spanish-speaking) and multilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
Excellent observation, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
A solid understanding of nursing interventions for medical and psychiatric diagnoses.
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
Special Requirements:
Hold an unencumbered Virginia license or multi-state compact license as a Registered Nurse and renew and maintain license as required, fulfilling all required continuing education required for licensure.
Hold or obtain certification required by law or department: CPR/First Aid, AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, Behavior De-escalation certification, HIPAA, and OSHA certifications.
Must be fitted for N-95 (or similar) mask to safely provide on-site services as needed.
The successful candidate must be flexible and adaptable to work in multiple locations. Willingness to join a team of Clinic Services Nurses and unlicensed staff in providing similar services for clients seeking care in MHSADS Medical Clinics if a need arises.
Post Conditional Offer Contingencies:
Employment is contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment background check to include fingerprinting, credit, NCIC, DMV and TB test. Must have a good driving record and a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
