Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Job Specialty: Emergency Department
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour night shifts
Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 1-year Emergency Department experience in a Level II Trauma Center; Level III experience may be considered
License: Valid state RN license
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS, MOAB (strongly preferred), CPI (strongly preferred)
Must-Have: Trauma experience, ventilator management, critical care drips/titration, cardiac rhythm interpretation
Job Description:
- Work in a Level II Trauma Center with a focus on emergency medical care for all ages, from neonate to geriatric
- Handle various medical conditions including DKA, sepsis, multisystem trauma, respiratory and renal failures, COVID-19, mental health issues, and cardiac events
- Work with a patient ratio of 1:4 in the Main ED, 1:5 in ED Holding Medical/Surgical, and 1:1-2 in ICU, adjusted based on acuity
- Required skills include US-guided IVs, stroke experience, conscious sedation, assisting with splinting, and evidence collection for SA cases
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including charge nurses, secretaries, paramedics, psych techs, CNAs, and physicians, plus access to ventilator assistance and respiratory therapists
- Use the Cerner charting system and equipment like Alaris, Pyxis, and GE monitors
- Participate in a supportive environment with resources including an IV/VAT team, phlebotomy, and a house supervisor available 24/7
- No requirement to float to inpatient areas; rotate between triage, psych, trauma, and holding areas within the Emergency Department
- Expected to wear professional scrubs of any color and complete a 3-day orientation including NEOS
- Be prepared to potentially work every weekend and meet holiday expectations based on unit needs
