The Registered Nurse III will:
- Provide technical assistance on nursing and health issue to providers, teams, guardians and staff for individuals with developmental disabilities.
How does it get done?
The Registered Nurse III is responsible for:
- Providing technical assistance on nursing and health issue by providing training and orientation to provider agency nurses, interpreting policies and regulations, reviewing general events reporting and doing follow up;
- Consulting with provider nurses on issues, emergencies and individuals regarding health care as well as completing health and safety visits and follow up for individuals served by the NM Home and Community Based Waivers as needed.

Individuals served by the Department of Health providers, teams, guardians and staff for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has:
- Experience working with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities as well as high medical needs, will have experience performing Nurse home visits and/or Nurse Case Management;
- A Developmental Disabilities Nurses Association (DDNA) certification or, will work with the Department to become DONA certified within two years of hire;
- A Registered Nurse or greater clinical license;
- 3-5 years of experience;
- Experience in case management, disease management, home health care nursing, hospital nursing or intensive outpatient education and self-management support;
- Excellent organization skills and is a resourceful self-starter and the ability to work with teams;
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Minimum Qualification
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course Certificate as a condition of continued employment within 45 days of employment. Travel may be required with some occasional overnight stays. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Working Conditions
Working conditions: Community and office-based. Some travel within the state of New Mexico is required. Office setting with extensive use of personal computer, telephone, fax, copier and other related office equipment that involves sitting, standing, bending, reaching, etc. to include lifting up to 30 pounds.
