Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Invasive Cardiology Cath/EP Registered Nurse is a critical care nurse responsible for all aspects of safe patient care delivery for patients undergoing diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures in Invasive Cardiology Labs. This position provides direct patient nursing care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values and mission of Denver Health. This position will participate in the overnight and weekend Invasive Cardiology call pool as part of an emergency response team.
Adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Nursing Administration Scope and Standards of Practice (2015) to provide leadership with the nursing process. Utilize and support the Theory of Human Caring and Caritas as a part of his or her daily practice. "Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, Founder / Director, Watson caring Science Institute."

Essential Functions:
- Utilizes critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and ability to work with minimal supervision within scope of practice in a fast-paced procedural environment. (20%)
- Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate in EMR and hemodynamic program. (20%)
- Operates complex specialty equipment within scope of practice and demonstrated competencies for patients undergoing diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures in Invasive Cardiology Labs. (30%)
- Administers conscious sedation and/or other medications to support cardiovascular and electrophysiology cases within scope of practice and demonstrated competencies. (20%)
- This position requires the individual to be flexible in their work schedule including but not limited to extended shifts and on-call per operational needs. Ability to arrive in thirty (30) min or less for after-hours call situations. (20%)
Education:
- Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
Work Experience:
- One-two years Cath Lab/EP Lab experience required, or two-three years critical care/intensive care experience required in lieu of Cath/EP Lab experience.
Licenses:
- RN-Registered Nurse - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies required.
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
- ACLS-Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Adherence to Standards of Professional Nursing Practice/ Process / Performance [ANA Standards addendum- signed] and accrediting body standards.
- Ensures all duties, responsibilities and competencies are conducted in a manner that is effective and appropriate to patients/clients to who care/service is being provided.
- Demonstrates knowledge and applicability of the principles of growth and development over the life span, as well as demonstrating the ability to assess data reflecting the patient's status and interpreting appropriate cultural information of the patient(s) to whom care/ services is being delivered/provided.
- Employee has completed and met their clinical competency standards
- Ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
- Skilled in maintaining effective working relationship with patients, employees, and the public.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to interpret adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
- Ability to communicate clearly.
- Microsoft Office Suite required.
- EPIC documentation preferred.
