Sun River Health is looking for a full-time RN in Employee Health to join our team for a hybrid opportunity in the Hudson Valley.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Employee Health is responsible for coordinating pre-employment and annual health assessments, as well as any required health screenings for all employees and volunteers at Sun River Health. Additionally, they will conduct specified staff training and act as a liaison with the Human Resources Department regarding employee health issues.

Essential duties and responsibilities of a Registered Nurse
  • Coordinate pre-employment physical examinations and screenings, including medical assessments (medical history, modified physical exam, blood pressure, and pulse check), pre-employment questionnaires, PPD, titers, and immunizations (Hepatitis B, Influenza, and Tetanus).
  • Maintain employees' medical records and chart nursing observations, vital signs, reactions to tests, such as PPD results and in-house testing, and other relevant information.
  • Plan, implement, and conduct the annual Influenza Program while coordinating tracking for flu mask regulations.
  • Plan, implement, and administer vaccine programs as directed by APIC, OSHA, CDC, and other regulatory agencies, including Tetanus, MMR, and Hepatitis B.
  • Act as a liaison for Human Resources during initial assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory health requirements.
  • Coordinate occupational exposure treatment and facilitate adherence to appropriate PEP protocols.
  • Assist in implementing infection prevention strategies and training; serve on the Infection Control Committee.
  • Aid in Quality Assurance monitoring; identify quality issues and opportunities to enhance employee health services.
  • Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development and educational programs.
  • Interview employees to obtain health histories, including current complaints and past and present medication use, utilizing patient identifiers; document employees' charts (which must be time-stamped and/or initialed).
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Initiate follow-ups as necessary; instruct employee on healthcare issues as indicated by the physician's diagnosis and/or employee inquiries.
  • Coordinates and conducts respiratory fit testing on employees who have patient contact.
  • Help orient new staff by demonstrating professionalism, offering constructive feedback, and acting as a preceptor and resource.
  • Serve as a liaison between employees, physicians, and workers' compensation case managers for return-to-work evaluations.
  • Perform post-exposure follow-ups, including testing, treatment coordination, and documentation.
  • Oversee injury reporting and follow-ups for work-related incidents in collaboration with HR and Risk Management.
  • Monitor employee health compliance with vaccinations (flu, COVID-19, Hepatitis B, etc.) and annual TB screenings.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee health records in accordance with OSHA, CDC, and hospital policies.
  • Provide employee health education on workplace safety, infection control, and injury prevention.

  • Minimum Education Requirement: Associate degree
  • Preferred Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Minimum Work-Related Experience: 1 - 4 years of experience
  • Minimum Requirement for Licensure/ Certification/Registration:
    • Registered Nurse - NYS
    • CPR Certification
    • Infection Control Certification
