Special Entrance Rate (SER) for this position is $3129.60 Biweekly $39.12 hourly
The salary can be higher depending on experience.
This position offers additional pay: Scheduled Overtime, Longevity Pay, Work Incentive Pay, and Certification Pay (ACLS, ANA, etc.), and Shift Differential Pay

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse plus one of the following:
Three years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A bachelor's degree in nursing plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A master's degree in nursing or public health plus two years of experience as a licensed registered nurse; OR
A doctorate in nursing or public health plus one year of experience as a licensed registered nurse.

This position serves as a Registered Nurse Supervisor A for the Nursing Department at Villa Feliciana Medical Complex, an acute and long term care hospital whose mission is to operate health care programs which provide medical care and treatment for residents with acute, subacute, and chronic illnesses and/or disabilities resulting from trauma or genetic defects.
VFMC is a specialized 24-hour medical facility operating with 150-175 staffed beds, with a license capacity of 299 beds. All beds are licensed as hospital beds. The facility is surveyed annually under CMS and state standards for nursing facility care. Specialized units include 20 Sick bay beds for acute and subacute care services provided to patients of East La. Mental Health System (ELMHS), and the only inpatient tuberculosis program in the state. The facility is staffed with a table of organization of 216 classified positions and 20+ unclassified positions with a budget in excess of $25 million. The physical plant consists of two patient care buildings, administrative building, activity buildings, support service buildings, staff residences, and a variety of storage and special purpose structures, located on a 157 acre site with its own fresh water system, sewer system, chiller and boiler systems, and electrical distribution system. This facility has control of passage with a security gate at entrance.
Responsible for the supervision and management of professional and non-professional nursing staff, providing highly skilled care to patients and functioning as second line supervisor to RN Supervisor B at Villa Feliciana Medical Complex. Work on assigned 12-hour night shift. Work will include weekdays, weekends and holidays.
70% Provide leadership and supervision for nursing staff in the facility. Assess, coordinate, supervise and provide nursing care to units as assigned, which include care to severely impaired patients with multiple, complex physical and/or mental dysfunctions/limitations requiring highly complex procedures limited to delivery by RNs.
Supervise and/or provide care requiring highly complex procedures limited to delivery by an RN. This can include but is not limited to central lines, Medi-ports, PICC lines, wound care, TPN, IVP medications, trach care, respiratory care, etc.
Obtain and give accurate report on all patients and conduct narcotic/control drug count each shift change.
Assess, respond and initiate emergency procedures in critical situations. Providing leadership and guidance in emergencies for subordinate staff.
Review and prepare shift reports, staffing and assignments. Schedule and adjust staff according to patient acuity. Approve advanced and/or emergency leave. Take call ins.
Provide leadership; assess, supervise and direct all phases of care provided by subordinate staff.
Make rounds with physicians, assist procedures as needed; supervise and/or assist in transcription and implementation of physician's orders.
In the absence of the RN Supervisor B assumes responsibility for supervision of entire nursing department within the facility.
20% Supervise and/or assess patients on admission; develop implement and monitor care plan.
Audit nursing care and documentation according to policy and procedures and standards of care. Collect and report data to per protocol to assure Federal and State standards are met.
Manage, supervise and evaluate the work and competency of subordinate staff as assigned; provide counseling as needed.
Order medical supplies and materials needed to maintain function of units and provide quality care.
5% Supervise orientation/training of new employees.
Communicate/counsel with visitors, families and other departments as needed.
Conduct and document meetings with subordinate staff.
Serve on committees as appointed; submit reports as needed or required.
Function as liaison between subordinate staff and Nursing Supervisors at a higher level.
Functions as liaison with families, other facilities, law enforcement agencies concerning patient's admission, discharge, transfer, etc.
5% Perform duties of subordinate staff as needed and other related duties.
Maintain current RN license and continuing education requirements.
Performs all other related duties as required in order to maintain the smooth operation of the Nursing Services Department and Villa Feliciana Medical Complex.
