Job Description:
- Provide general nursing care to residents, guided by the resident care plan, facility policies and procedures, and professional standards of practice.
- Supervise Nursing Assistants, ensuring compliance with the plan of care.
- Make nursing assessments regarding residents' health status and develop nursing diagnoses as the basis for care strategy.
- Develop and implement a plan of care based on assessment and nursing diagnosis; evaluate responses to nursing interventions.
- Coordinate outside physician visits to ensure residents' medical needs are met.
- Demonstrate effective communication with physicians and family members to address resident needs.
- Provide education to residents, families, and staff to ensure understanding of the residents' plan of care.
- Promote and implement the choices philosophy and resident rights.
- Prepare, administer, and document routine and emergency medications and treatments as ordered.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in clinical records to ensure continuity and quality of resident care.
- Perform safety and infection control procedures to provide a safe and clean environment for residents and staff.
- Participate as a team member in the Quality Management program to ensure standards of care are met within the facility.
- Act as the primary contact person on the assigned shift.
- Demonstrate knowledge, skills, and ability in IV therapy, including initiating IVs, administering initial medication, and managing central lines and catheters.
