The Opportunity

Position Summary:

Although Carewest primarily specializes in the continuing care sector, its programming also includes post-acute rehabilitation-focused, short stay inpatient programs. We are seeking a Rehabilitation CSM for our fast-paced inpatient rehab-focused programming at two Carewest sites. This is a relatively new role that oversees the Allied Health staff at the Carewest Glenmore Park and Sarcee locations. As Rehabilitation CSM, you will be part of an interprofessional team driven to enhance health care delivery by utilizing evidence-based practice, and you will be leading clinical teams in providing exceptional care to Carewest clients. The role will include overseeing day to day operations, innovative program planning, implementation and evaluation that meet the needs of our clients and families, effective and efficient operational utilization of resources, and strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Program Summary:

This position will oversee the majority of Allied Health staff in the portfolio of Carewest Glenmore Park and Sarcee. This portfolio includes primarily inpatient post-acute programs (>80%), but it also includes a Long-Term Care (LTC) unit and an Alternative Level of Care (ALC) unit. The post-acute units are focused on goal-oriented, short stay rehabilitation. Allied Health disciplines within the portfolio include Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistants, Recreation Therapists, Rec Therapy Aides, and Social Workers.

Qualifications:

- Master's degree required in either Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy.

- Current registration with appropriate professional licensing body.

Experience:

Required:

- Minimum of 3 years acute care therapy experience within the last 5 years.

- Minimum of 3 years in a clinical operational leadership health care role.

- Progressive leadership experience in a healthcare environment, including leadership of teams of significant size, complexity and diversity.

- Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.

- Demonstrated ability to communicate well - both written and verbal, and engage with internal and external stakeholders.

- Strong leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.

- Commitment in building teams towards a common purpose.

- Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization.

- Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build relationships with, foundations, committees, and other partners.

- Knowledge and experience in the application of conflict resolution strategies.

- Client and Family focused, with a commitment to providing high quality services.

- Ability to continually analyze effectiveness of strategies and implement quality and process improvements.

- Demonstrates respect for culture and diversity.

- Able to demonstrate competence in the development of new programs and services to meet the needs of the population.

- Previous experience managing in a unionized environment

Preferred:

- Continuing care and/or acute care experience.

- PROSCI change management modules or certification.

- LEAN, Six Sigma, or AHS AIW modules.

- Accreditation experience.
