Job Description

Research Process Engineer, Archer Daniels Midland Company, Decatur, IL. Conduct engineering studies and recommend process changes for industrial chemicals, industrial food, and advanced biofuels production. Analyze pilot process upsets to determine root causes. Prepare mass and energy balances of unit operations. Design experiments for plant and pilot trials in industrial environment. Assess performance specifications of a range of unit operations, including filtration, distillation, evaporation, centrifugation, carbon treatment, ion exchange, chromatographic separation, and solids handling. Work closely with plant engineers, vendors, and contractors to set up production equipment. Provide technical support to facilities. Write detailed reports and prepare comprehensive presentations.
40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering or related field, and four (4) years of post-bachelor, progressive, related work experience.
Must have one (1) year of experience with/ in:
Designing process flow or process improvement diagrams using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Vision, or Aspen Plus;
Analyzing and interpreting scientific data to design and evaluate chemical process;
Prepare mass and energy balances of unit operations or whole plants;
Evaluating and implementing new technologies into production facilities: and
Providing technical expertise to identify quality and performance issues.
Up to 20% of regional travel required.
