The Department of Biochemistry has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist/Engineer to join their team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Protein engineering (immunogen design) to design subunit vaccines based on the spike glycoprotein of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (construct design, recombinant expression in mammalian cells, purification and stability assays), characterization of antigenicity (binding assays using ELISAs and biolayer interferometry to evaluate binding kinetics and affinity of antibodies) and structural studies (high-throughput cryo-electron microscopy of subunite vaccines as well as of complexes between coronavirus spike glycoproteins and monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies).-70%
Analysis of the data to help determining the research strategy, interactions with collaborators within our network and writing of manuscripts for publication-30%
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry + 4 years of experience of relevant experience, OR equivalent combination of education/experience.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Cryo-electron microscopy, virology assays (pseudovirus entry and neutralization assays), protein engineering

Ph.D in Biochemistry
The position requires knowledge of single particle cryo-electron microscopy and image reconstruction techniques, recombinant expression and purification of viral glycoproteins, viral pseudotyping entry and neutralization assays, antibody and glycoprotein engineering
